You didn’t get the job…now what?

The dreaded email has arrived. You applied, got through the phone interview, killed the in-person interview, online personality test, whatever else and you were SURE you were getting it, right? Yep. I’ve been there too. It sucks. You invested emotionally in the process, you manifested this opportunity and you let yourself picture what it would be like to work there. I am so, so sorry. What do you do now? The next steps are important for you both personally and professionally. So here are some of my suggestions…

Celiac – it’s not a dietary preference, it’s a disease

In November 2013 I was diagnosed with Celiac disease. This is a severe allergy to wheat and gluten. I get a lot of questions when I tell people I have celiac – “What CAN you eat?” or “How do you survive?” or “How did you know you had it?”

To answer the first two questions – I eat a lot of meat, rice and veggies. I just have to be careful with seasonings and sauces. And I am surviving a lot better than I would be if I was still eating wheat.

My Unintentional Year of Personal Growth

I’ve mentioned because that I’ve moved twice since college. The first was a small college town in Central Illinois. I’ll admit I talk a lot of shit about that little town. No good mall – but lots of placed to eat. Lots of growing families starting their lives and obnoxious college kids – not a lot of young unmarried professionals planning their career. An additional 10 pounds is a lot on my short girl frame. I had not been consistent with my workouts stemming from the busy season at work, six weeks of bronchitis and of course, delicious holiday food over-eating. (We’re all human!) I decided right then and there something had to change and FAST!

WINC Review

I recently signed up for WINC – a personalized wine club. I’d heard about it for a while but just hadn’t signed up yet. I love trying new wines, although I always keep a bottle of my favorites around. I liked that they would suggest wines based on my pallet. When I got my last shipment from The Limited (tear! How can they be closing for good?! But, I digress) there was a promotional card in there for WINC. If I visited winc.com/TheLimited I could get half off my order, so, why not?! It was the perfect time to try it.
